St. Garmon's is a small village church nestled at the end of the Ceiriog Valley in northeast Wales.
We host concerts and weddings in an intimate setting, with amenities close at hand.
The site of the church has reputedly been a site of Christian worship since the 5th century. It may have been a holy site even before Christianity.
On passing through the gate, the mound to the left is thought to be a burial mound from the middle ages, or perhaps a preaching mound.
The present church was rebuilt in 1846. The demolition of the previous church uncovered more than 100 coins from the reign of King Edward IV in the 15th century.
The two magnificent yew trees that flank the church door are more than 1,000 years old and serve as an impressive backdrop for wedding shots.
You will find the church open to welcome visitors every day throughout the year. If the door sticks, give it a good push!
This is one of the few churches that still holds a PLYGAIN, a Welsh-language musical service. This takes place usually between Christmas and New Year and involves small groups performing traditional Welsh carols in harmony. Traditionally the service was held across Wales on Christmas morning before dawn.
